For the last few days we’ve been experimenting with posting the site on various places around the web. We linked to this blog from www.digg.com and this has brought an influx of visitors over the last 36 hours. Nearly 200 in all.
Using Google Analytics we know that slightly more than half our visitors come to the site directly. We’re not quite sure why this is happening, ideally it would be because people are emailing their friends about the site, but we will have to wait and see. The second largest proportion of visitors are coming straight from this blog. We think this is predominantly people who have hit the blog from digg, but there are probably some other people who have found the blog through wordpress.
Our 200 unique visitors only brought 3 conversions so we’ve tweaked the front page a bit which we hope will improve our conversion rate. We’re thinking of posting to reddit in the next few days to see if that brings some more traffic to the site.
Hey, is that Google Analytics I see? How did you integrate it to the blog?
Hi Qwerty,
Your name is easy to type, i like it! You’re right, the graph is from Google Analytics. Unfortunately it can’t be integrated with blogs, those stats are for http://www.darwindating.com. Check out http://www.google.com/analytics if you want to use analytics on your own website. It’s a hot tool, no doubt it would get into Darwin Dating if it were a person.
any chance of updated stats?
would like to know how the site is doing, i mentioned some additional features etc, in an e-mail but i realise that this is completely impractical unless you are recieving LOTS of hits a day or charging subscriptions to the site.
so it’d be nice to see if the site is expanding much
Michael, if your so good at making websites, you must be really ugly. What a geek…
